Higher Learning Potential

Children with Higher Learning Potential (HLP) are those with one or more abilities developed to a level significantly ahead of their year group.

They are identified through various ways including formal assessment. At Deansbrook we like to think everyone may have a gift
or talent and aim to nurture these throughout the school.

All children are given every opportunity to develop their potential and staff have high expectations. Children are provided with extra challenges to extend their learning within the classroom and there are often other opportunities in a range of curriculum areas to extend skills and nurture particular talent, including opportunities for performing in assemblies, working with artists and authors in residence and professional bodies e.g. Saracens. Children may also attend afterschool clubs and masterclasses at Deansbrook and local secondary schools.
