Children learn the values of respect, tolerance and positive values and attitudes through the study of the past.

History is taught through direct experience and based on discovery. We aim to create an interest in past times and cultures and help children develop the ability to ask questions about the past and the world we live in. Pupils will understand some of the important characteristics of different periods of time and cultures and the relevance of important events in the past to the present time. They will also compare and contrast different periods of time and develop respect and understanding of the ways of life of other peoples. There will be opportunities to work with artefacts or replica artefacts, visiting speakers, trips of historical interest and Off the Page history days.
